Meditation is becoming more popular with integrative medicine and spiritual therapies. “Over the last ten years, Buddhist leader, the Dalai Lama, has been engaged in formal top-level dialogues with leading scientists and brain researchers from M.I.T., Harvard, the University of Wisconsin, and others. Until several years ago, these annual conversations were held in private as simple but powerful inquiries into each other’s methods for understanding the mind. Recently, the results of this dialogue and resulting studies into meditation for healing have been made public, and they’re fascinating.”
The above article from Dr. Weil shows a new trend in ancient spiritual practice. As scientists state, we have the power to self-heal, or I say we can heal spiritually. The spiritual healing includes the healing of mind, body, and spirit. Spiritual meditation in recovery primarily focuses on altering the thought process so we place our thoughts in a happy place in the mind. We shift our thinking from negative thoughts to a more positive focus. Your thoughts dictate what part of the brain you are using.
We can change our thinking and alter our spiritual connection using science and spirituality. Let me give you a short-guided prayer as an example. I share these videos as examples; of using sound and prayer to help you recover and heal. I encourage you to find relaxing music to listen to as you meditate.

Either sit or lie down so you are comfortable. Practice breathing slowly, counting to eight as you inhale, holding your breath for the count of four, and slowly exhaling for the count of ten.
Imagine the outline of your body. Imagine your body as a hollow vessel that is dark and empty. Now imagine a bright golden light slowly moving through your body (some like to imagine angels or other heavenly beings pouring the light into their bodies. As the light slowly moves from the top of your head downward, it illuminates your inner body. Stop at any point where you feel pain or have a disease. Focus on the diseased area and feel the warmth and healing resting in that area, cleansing and curing your ailment. After residing in the diseased area for a few moments, continue down your body and visualize the bright, brilliant golden light cleaning every part of your inner body. As you finish watching the light go down through your feet and toes, imagine your entire body lighting up with a glowing golden light so that you create an aura several feet around you.
Say a prayer of thanksgiving for the healing that you received from God. Continue to listen to the music, trying not to think about anything. Just relax. Repeat this daily, believing that healing occurs in your body, mind, and soul.
As it is called, self-healing meditation is not intended to replace medical therapies; it is intended to enhance them. Christian meditation places God at the center of your healing but does not exclude medical treatment. God works through the medical staff's lives, trying to heal you.

Spiritual healing is the union of mind, body, and spirit for the total healing of the person.
